Soy-based Printer Toner & Laser Cartridges
Here in the U.S., we consume more than 50 thousand tons of petroleum-based toner and printer materials each year.
Petroleum-based toner cartridges, printer ink and printer supplies are sometimes made from resources that are less than ideal for the environment. The use of soy-based toner supplies can help prevent VOCs and other petroleum byproducts from contaminating the ground when they are not properly disposed of in a earth-friendly and recycling sensitive manner.
In addition to being compostable, paper products that are printed with soy-based toner cartridges is easier to recycle than paper printed with conventional printer supplies materials. At Concord Supplies, we are exploring and currently testing these soy-based supplies to ensure they meet the demanding needs of our business, office, small office, and home or personal customers.
Many manufacturers are exploring introducing lines of laser toner printer cartridges made with soy-based toner and printer powder. These types of soy-based printing methods offer an alternative for workplace printing and image reporductions. As we have learned through extensive testing, these eco-friendly toner cartridges are comparable to their OEM and genuine brand name counterparts in price, print quality, and page yield numbers. Although it’s not widely known, since the early 1970’s, soy-based inks have been available and used in commercial and industrial printing in fields such as newspaper, magazines and others. The use of soy in business and office laser printers, fax machines, and copiers have not been available until now.
