New Xerox Business & Office Printers Featuring Xerox Solid Ink

new-xerox-logo1Xerox introduced its line of Xerox solid ink printers nearly 20 years ago.  Since that time, these solid ink products have developed a loyal following of customers seeking high quality prints and reduced waste from this innovative printer technology.

For the uninformed, solid ink sticks are wax-like blocks that are inserted into 4 color-specific chambers in the printer.  Upon the melting of the blocks within the Xerox solid ink printer system, the ink substance is then applied to the paper surface — quickly producing a vibrant, long-lasting image.

This April, Xerox solid ink technology will be integrated into a new class of high-end business printers and copier machines.  These new Xerox business printers will cost upwards of $20,000, far in excess of the current Xerox small business printers that are priced around $749 (Xerox Phaser 8560 ink printer) and $2,399 (Xerox Phaser 8860 ink printer).xerox-solid-ink

With these new office printer machines comes the ability to print an extremely large number of full-color copies between solid ink refillings.  At present, its expected the Xerox business solid ink printers will be able to print 63,000 color copies, compared to the 34,000 that are typically produced by the average color laser toner cartridge equivalent.

In addition to total-cost-of-ownership savings, the single biggest benefit may be the environment as the new Xerox solid ink printers will significantly reduce the cartridge waste created within the office environment.
