Arts and crafts is often students favorite time of the day, with a little extra thought it can be fun for all.  In crafts for preschoolers it is not about the finished product.  For the youngster it is about experience, craft materials, and their own creativity.  Here are a few suggestions to make this valuable time fun and easy for everyone.We all know with kids there is going to be a mess, be sure during craft time the mess is no fuss.  Let the kids do it their way, with the wrong color or upside down.  Remember it is their masterpiece not yours.  Next have reasonable expectations.  Every child may not be ready for every activity but let them try.

Use only non-toxic materials for your preschool crafts and be sure if babies are around that all items that can be swallowed are out of reach.  Create crafts in a room where there is no carpet like the kitchen or outside and cover the work area with newspapers or disposable tablecloth.

Finally and most important, lead by example.  The best way to teach the children is to lead by example and make a craft yourself.  They will learn more from watching than from verbal instruction.  Express yourself and they will follow.
