New High-End Photo Ink Printers from HP – HP Z2100, HP Z3100
Epson now has competition in the high end printer market with the introduction of the all-new HP Z2100 ink printer and HP Z3100 ink printer. These are representative of the new pigment ink printer offerings from both HP and Canon that have added strong competition to the marketplace.
In an aggressive move, the HP ink printer group has taken a large step forward with the HP Z2100 and HP Z3100. Both printers are available in 24″ and 44″ sizes. These HP printers use the new Vivera pigment inks that were first witnessed in the HP B9180 ink printer.
The HP Z2100 ink printer uses the same 8 ink cartridge set as the smaller HP B9180 ink printer. The HP Z3100 ink printer uses a 12 ink cartridge to 11 ink cartridge color set up that also offers a gloss enhancer version.
Furthering this trend of fancing features, the HP Z ink printer series also proclaims itself as the first printer that includes a built-in spectrophotometer. The HP ink printer spectrophotometer is typically utilized on wide format printers for creating custom profiles thereby allowing the printer operator or professional photographer
The final photographic output from the HP Z3100 ink printer is nothing less than steller. The high quality imagery that appears on the photo paper is absolutely amazing. Noted professional photographer from Chicago Shalimar Beekman remarked “the images are incredibly lifelike, extremely crisp, and have strong color representation. I’ve used these printers numerous times for creating large format prints of baby photographs, children’s photography, and family portraits.”
To provide a little background, printer ink that utilizes pigment has two major advantages over dye-based inks. First and foremost, it’s lifespan is much greater. This this benefit, photographs can be printed, stored, and archived over many years without any degradation in print color or imagery quality. As of current pigment standards, most printer inks offer seventy or more years of display life before visible fading occurs.
The HP Vivera inks that are used in the new HP Z2100 ink printer and the HP Z3100 printer have been rated by Wilhelm Research at 200 years — far surpassing those of previous ink generations. This 200 year rating is valid for both color and b&W prints.
The additional benefit of pigment ink is the variety of media that can be utilized for printer purposes. In most instances, dye ink printers are designed to be most effective with gloss or luster papers. On the contrary, pigment ink-based printers can print on nearly any media surface including a wide selection of HP fine art-type paper selections.
In conclusion, if you’re looking for an alternative to the Epson ink printer selection for photographers and other high end photography endeavors, take a look at the all-new HP Z3100 ink printer and HP Z2100 ink printer, you won’t be disappointed.
